The VETERANKA movement consists of hundreds of women across Ukraine with war experience. These include active military personnel, female veterans, and volunteers. We gather from time to time in events called “Ascent of Female Veterans.”
These meetings are essential for hugging, gaining strength together, and aligning our metaphorical clocks: working on strategies and envisioning the future of the movement, discussing current issues.
Our Ascents serve as founding meetings and support circles where participants get to know each other, share needs and problems. Additionally, each Ascent program includes useful training and lectures. As of spring 2023, 10 Ascents have been held.
Partnership support for Ascents: UN Women, NDI.
Are you a military personnel, female veteran, or volunteer? We would be delighted to see you as a sister at our next Ascent.
There’s much ahead of us, so we encourage you to join our team. Together, we can influence the development of a professional Ukrainian army and reshape the image of a female military servicewoman as a professional in her field. We aim to convey to people that being in the military is proud and prestigious. Ultimately, with our collective efforts, we could instill new values and positively impact the internal culture of modern Ukrainians.
