“Alley of Memory”
In the struggle against Russian occupation, many women paid the highest price – they died for Ukraine. In the VETERANKA movement, we emphasize the importance of not letting their memory fade amidst the turmoil of war and the routine of post-war construction. Therefore, since April 2019, VETERANKA has been planting “Alleys of Memory” throughout Ukraine – gardens with decorative apple trees, each dedicated to a fallen women warrior. As of 2023, there are already 11 alleys in Kramatorsk, Kyiv, Brovary, Lviv, Drogobych, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Uzhhorod, Odesa, Novohrad-Volynskyi, and Kharkiv.
Biographical Films
Women from the VETERANKA movement also honor the memory of their sisters by creating biographical films about each of them. With the support of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, the first 8 episodes of the series “Women who died for Ukraine” were filmed.
