Humanitarian Mission to Kherson Region
On the first day after the explosion at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station, the VETERANKA volunteer headquarters began collecting aid and preparing a humanitarian mission to the areas most affected. Our team was among the first to set off to assist Kherson Region. We evacuated animals, delivered medicine, boats, clothing, food, and hygiene products to those in greatest need. Thanks to your donations, friends, and the support of philanthropists, we have successfully carried out four such missions. Our fourth mission to assist the Kherson Region took place in collaboration with our friends from the Hospitallers.
Our volunteers delivered humanitarian aid (food kits, drinking water, hygiene supplies, clothing) to the distribution center of the Hospitallers, two unyielding points in Kherson, and a hostel for refugees. We also provided the necessary tools for the ecological disaster cleanup on site – chainsaws, shovels, axes, water containers, extensions, wheelbarrows, and garbage bags. We purchased and provided gloves to ensure that all harmful substances remaining on the surface after the water receded do not penetrate the body through the skin during restoration work.
All of this had to be done very quickly, amidst constant artillery shelling and the pursuit of enemy drones.
We would like to express our gratitude to the UN Women in Ukraine for their support of the humanitarian mission.
