Kateryna Pryimak, co-founder and leader of the VETERANKA, received the Franco-German Human Rights Award
Kateryna Pryimak, co-founder and leader of the VETERANKA, a volunteer, has been awarded the prestigious Franco-German Human Rights Prize. This award is presented annually to activists from all over the world who dedicate their activities to the protection of human rights.
The French Ambassador to Ukraine Gaël Veyssière and the Deputy Ambassador to Ukraine Tim Pragne presented the award. Kateryna Pryimak was awarded for her tireless work defending the rights of women servicewomen and veterans in Ukraine.
“I am grateful for this award because it shows that our efforts are noticeable and important. However, the main characters of this story are our blood sisters, the defenders who are fighting for the freedom of Ukraine. Today, the military is the group in society with the fewest rights, and women in the army face the greatest restrictions. There is a lot of work ahead, and we continue to protect those who protect us,” says Kateryna Pryimak, head of the VETERANKA.
The Franco-German Human Rights Prize recognizes the achievements of Ukrainian civil society activists for the second time.
“I want to take revenge for my shattered life. For all the military and civilians who have died in this war”
