The VETERANKA Movement Launches the Large-Scale Campaign “Women Can Do Everything!”

To mark International Women’s Rights Day, the VETERANKA Movement launched a large-scale campaign titled “Women Can Do Everything!” along with a major fundraising effort of UAH 6,000,000 to support the units where our members serve.

Today, around 70,000 women serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with another more than 6,000 serving in the National Guard of Ukraine. About 5,500 servicewomen are currently performing combat missions on the most difficult sections of the front line. At the same time, the share of women officers has increased in recent years from 4% to 21%.

On International Women’s Rights Day, the VETERANKA Movement launched a large communication campaign in a comic-style format, which can be seen in the Kyiv metro, on city lightboards across the capital, and on screens in shopping malls. The campaign aims not only to change how women in the military are perceived, but also to help close the large UAH 6,000,000 charitable fundraising goal.

Through visuals inspired by gaming aesthetics, we present four images of Ukrainian defenders — strong, determined, and professional — highlighting once again that real-life superheroes are among us. These are stories of women who are already an integral part of Ukraine’s defense and who prove by their own example that Ukrainian women choose who they want to be — and they can do everything.

The heroines of the campaign

“The Shahed Hunter” — Ania Tatu “Ksena”
UAV operator, 37th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
A Belgian who chose Ukraine and now defends it as part of the Marine Corps, despite living with a disability since childhood. Her superpower is extraordinary precision and the ability to spot threats in the night sky before anyone else, helping save thousands of lives from enemy Shahed drones.

“The Predator” — Eva “Yunha”
FPV drone operator, Rubizh Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.
She embodies cold focus and confidence. Her superpower is the ability to see in the dark and strike with precision. On the battlefield, Yunha is a relentless hunter. As a drone operator with the Rubizh Brigade, she precisely tracks and destroys targets that threaten our cities.

“The Robot Commander” — Oksana “Oksi”
Commander of a combat group of ground robotic systems, special unit OMEGA.
A mother of two and a successful entrepreneur who became the first woman commander of a robotic systems unit in the OMEGA special forces. Her superpower is a “steel mind” and the ability to stay one step ahead — implementing the latest technologies to protect human lives.

“The Amazon” — Yana “Multyk”
Commander of a women’s UAV platoon, 141st Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
A symbol of resilience and sisterhood. After surviving occupation and being wounded, she not only returned to service but also led the first women’s UAV operator unit. Her superpower is inspiring fighting spirit through her own example. She is a leader who burns through prejudice and helps build a new army where every woman is protected and heard.

Anyone can choose their heroine and open a support donation jar through the link.

No matter which heroine you choose, all funds will go toward a joint fundraising effort to equip mobile air defense groups of the 37th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and to purchase Heavy Shot bomber drones for the Rubizh Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.

The Movement expresses sincere gratitude to BigMedia and ComandaA for supporting the campaign’s information outreach.
We also thank illustrator Anna Ivanenko, who created the visual images of our heroines. She is known for her collaborations with The New Yorker, The Guardian, The Economist, Forbes, and other international media outlets.
