We strengthen evacuation efforts on the most difficult sections of the front and delivers the unique robotic complex “Maul”

On May 20, the VETERANKA movement, together with legendary Ukrainian writer Oksana Zabuzhko, are transferring the “Maul” ground robotic complex to the “Vedmedi” Unmanned Systems Battalion of the 39th Separate Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This will be the first marine brigade to use this technology to save lives at the front.

The transfer of the complex became the finale of a large-scale fundraising campaign totaling 4 million hryvnias, which accompanied nationwide screenings of the internationally acclaimed film Cuba & Alaska about the work of Ukrainian female combat medics. An exceptionally important contribution to the fundraiser was made by Oksana Zabuzhko: together with her readers and followers, she raised 1,066,000 hryvnias, demonstrating one of the strongest and most consistent forms of support for the Movement.

Technology that replaces people on the fiercest sections of the front

The “Maul” ground complex is a specialized ground robotic capsule for evacuating the wounded from the most difficult sections of the front, where, due to heavy fire, the work of regular evacuation crews becomes impossible. The complex is equipped with unique engineering solutions:

Protection against hypothermia — as the platform’s engine heats up, it transfers warmth inside the capsule, which is critically important for stabilizing a severely wounded fighter during prolonged transportation.

Constant communication with the wounded person — the complex is equipped with a special baby-monitor camera, thanks to which medics can maintain remote real-time communication with the wounded person and fully control the evacuation process.

Absolute cross-country capability — the first “Maul” transferred by the Movement this year has already undergone a baptism by enemy “petal” mines. Having gained this frontline experience, the manufacturers improved the design: the wheels of the second evacuation vehicle were модернізed and can now withstand any damage.

According to a long-standing tradition, Oksana Zabuzhko gave the combat vehicle a name. She named the rescue capsule “Nadiia” in honor of her mother, Nadiia Yakivna Zabuzhko. The educator passed away in 2014, and even back then, according to her writer daughter, she used to say that “if only she had the strength, she would now wear armor and help.” Now armor bears her name and will save our military personnel.

For the VETERANKA movement, this project is not simply about purchasing equipment. It is about changing the approach to saving lives. We are transferring the third such robotic complex already. Where evacuation crews previously risked their lives, now a single iron complex operates. This capsule will go on to save the wounded on one of the most difficult directions of the front, where every such robot means dozens of saved lives of male and female fighters,” the VETERANKA movement notes.

Since the beginning of this year, the Movement has already transferred three such robotic ground evacuation complexes to the “Vedmedi” unit of the 39th Separate Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where Movement participant Yuliia Sidorova “Cuba,” head of the medical point of the “Vedmedi” Unmanned Systems Battalion, serves.
